Nissan Motor Co. announced a recall of about 135,000 Infiniti G35 sedans and coupes due to faulty airbags that may not deploy during a crash.
G35 Coupes from the 2005 to 2007 model year and G35 Sedans from the 2005 to 2006 model year are involved in the recalled.
According to the automaker, the airbag unit’s wire harness located under the front passenger seat could wear down and interrupt the airbag’s signal. In a crash, the airbag might malfunction, increasing the risk of injury.
To date, the company has not received any reports of injury or incident involving this recall.
Nissan is yet to inform federal officials how they intend to fix the problem, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The NHTSA was informed of the of the problem two weeks ago.
